It’s never been easier to be a dog in the big city. Dallas is home to its fair share of famous canines, and with all the interesting sights and smells to be had in town, it’s not hard to see why.
Numerous bars and restaurants around the city now include dog-friendly spaces, and sometimes the animals are the main attraction. At Mutts Canine Cantina, the dogs might be more important than the people — the bar and restaurant features an off-leash dog park area in addition to its pet-friendly patio. Is it possible for a dog to sniff too many other dogs at once? You’ll find out.
After all that excitement, your furry friend might be in need of a good wash. Several apartment communities in the Metroplex owned by AMLI Residential feature self-serve pet baths as amenities for residents — called a “Paw Wash” in Uptown and a “Pet Spa” in West Plano.
If you’re not lucky enough to live somewhere with a doggie spa, hoof it to either Urban Dogg or Dirty Dawgs for self-service washing — even the Dallas Observer can’t pick a favorite between the two.
Of course, you can always scrub Fido in the bathtub. Baxter, a rescue living the high life at the Metropolitan Apartments downtown, prefers his privacy.

It’s basically dog Disneyland, with fountains, trails, and a large off-leash space. The fountains might just entertain your dog indefinitely, so you’d better be patient.
Yoda’s so distracted by breakfast at Buzz Lofts on the south side, she might forget her reservation at the Pawliday Inn Pet’s Resort and Spa, located only a few blocks away. This full-service pet hotel features boarding, daycare, grooming, and pet chauffeur services to and from the hotel for a flat fee of $10 within the downtown area. Be warned, your precious pooch may come home spoiled rotten.
